Join me for a different vantage point as I take you kayaking on the beautiful waters of the Upper Newport Bay, also known as the Back Bay, in Newport Beach, California! In this adventure, I rent a single kayak from the Newport Aquatic Center for just $20 an hour and set off to see what this iconic Southern California waterway has to offer. We’ll paddle in two directions: first, north towards the serene Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve, spotting birds and jumping fish along the way. Then, we’ll turn around and head towards the ocean, cruising through private waterways to get an up-close look at the stunning multi-million dollar homes, private boat docks, and the quintessential Newport “Duffy” boats.
Our journey also takes us past the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina, where we check out its incredible inflatable water playground, sandy beaches, and other rental options. All of this happens under the flight path of John Wayne Airport, adding another unique element to the scenery.
